David Walters

Dj, Producer

Grandson of Caribbeans (Saint-Kitts and Martinique), David Walters, co-founder of the Bordeaux collective Zimpala, now lives in Marseille. A former high-level athlete, this young author, composer, performer and producer has given birth to an astonishing repertoire imbued with electronic beats and acoustic folk under Afro-Caribbean influences. Recently signed to Parisian independent label ¡Ya Basta! (Gotan Project, Boyz from Brazil), this one-man band awakens the traveler within us. Alone on stage, surrounded by his machines, percussion, crystal Baschet and guitar, David Walters unfolds a repertoire with broad horizons, re-thought for each of his lives. After participating in the Asian tour of the Ya Basta Sound System, he recently opened for Lenny Kravitz, Morcheeba and Jamiroquai. David Walters had already been noticed as a DJ by having opened the concerts of David Bowie, the Green Negresses or Dupain. Remixer for Dupain, Zuco 103 or Gotan Project, he also produced a pair of tracks on the first album by Brazilian singer Cibelle. Mèsi Bondyé EP, his first maxi released in June 2005, announces a long-format opus expected for February 2006.
