"Andrea Ngechu aka Andy was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. Since the early days of ElectrAfrique, she joined the collective as part of Electrique DJs. Her performance draw from a deep tradition of Southern African house music, with elements of kuduro bringing energy to her sets. On stage, she often teams up with the Beat Parade Band, a unique Kenyan performance ensemble, that fuses traditional instruments with electronic beats. The show results in high tempo, high energy music with a strong African identity that’s been delivering fire to Nairobi dancefloors since the early days of ElectrAfrique. The Beat Parade Band started with a single djembe drum that was adding texture to Electrique DJs’ afro house sets, while growing gradually to include a full set of native Kenyan traditional “bull” drums and “agwata” shakers & cowbells, complete with sax and keys to drive melody."
